Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice both fall on the 21st of June this year. There are a lot more tunes and songs in the Celtic repertoire celebrating mothers than fathers, and the music that does mention a father, it’s usually the local parish priest. In spite of that, Katie Marie and Joe put together an hour of traditional Celtic music celebrating fathers, whether they are the paternal type or the pastoral type. We also sneak in some music celebrating midsummer, plus a couple more tracks from new releases.
The artists this week: Four Men & A Dog; Josephine Marsh; Dolores Keane; Michael Black; Matti Kallio; Mick Conneely-David Munnelly-Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin; Mick Moloney; Victoria Adiiye & Dáithí Sproule; Mick O’Brien & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh; Nuala Kennedy; Dervish; Mary Bergin; and Mari Black.
