Katie and Joe split the show between Ireland and Brittany. The latter half of this wee’s show features traditional dance music from Brittany. Although one of the Celtic nations, many people who listen to Celtic music are unfamiliar with Breton music. Some of the arrangements may sound harsh to ears unaccustomed to the piercing sound of the incredibly loud bombarde and the high-pitched, biniou bagpipe. For generations, these two instruments have been the voices of Breton dance music, and once you begin to dance, the sound becomes hypnotic. As you link your little fingers together with your village neighbors, your feet move rhythmically as one, and the movement becomes trancelike.
