It’s the week of Veteran’s Day in the US, which falls on November 11th. This is also Armistice Day, observed in Europe–but often ignored in the Republic of Ireland, due to the fight for Irish independence happening concurrently with World War One. Katie Marie and Joe put together a set of songs and tunes that forego political sides and focus on the very human aspects of those who chose the soldier’s life–or those that were forced into it. We also feature songs detailing the anguish of those left behind.
This week, we play: Dún Aengus, Dolores Keane & John Faulkner, Cassie & Maggie, Frank Harte & Donal Lunny, Planxty, Long Woman’s Grave, Stray Hens, Niamh Parsons & Graham Dunne, Solas, Battlefield Band, Planxty, Colleen Raney, Bonnie Rideout, and Guichen.
