March 1st marks St. David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales. Katie Marie and Joe spin up a playlist of Welsh music, some traditional, some contemporary. With Welsh being a Brythonic language with similarities to Brezhoneg, the language of Celtic Brittany, it’s not too far of a stretch hearing the musical similarities as well. From the southern Valleys to the northern mountains, Wales has a deep and rich history and music to match.
The artists this week: Elfen; Calan; Ar Log; Mari Mathias; Fernhill; John Tose; The Foxglove Trio; The Gentle Good; Hwntws; Cerys Matthews; Bendith; Three Legg’d Mare; Olion Byw; and Aberjaber.
