Katie Marie and Joe put together an hour of music where the back line gets the spotlight. Most of the time, we play traditional Celtic music where the melody instruments are the primary focus. Historically, that’s the way the music has been played, where the melody itself and the lead instruments carry the rhythm to get people dancing. Other than the bodhrán, backup instruments are a relatively recent addition to the Celtic repertoire. This week, we feature the rhythm instruments where they make a difference to the lift and drive of the music.
