Show 219 – Brittany and Spain
(2022-06-04)

[This show originally aired 7/24/21] Katie Marie and Joe take a trip across the Irish Sea and the Channel to visit the Celtic regions of Europe: Brittany and Northern Spain. Featuring different instruments and rhythms, the sounds of Brittany, Galicia, and Asturias may sound “foreign” to ears used to Irish and Scottish music, but the history, complexity, and beauty are just as vibrant and maybe even just a little influenced by the Moorish occupiers in the Middle Ages.

This week, we play: Corquiéu, Ronan Le Bars Group, Guichen, Susana Seivane, Milladoiro, Storvan, Kornog, Ad Vielle Que Pourra, Luar Na Lubre, Bagad Du Moulin Vert, Alan Stivell, Alain Pennec, Sterne, and Carlos Nuñez.

Our FairPlé score this week is 7.
