This week, Katie Marie and Joe put together an hour of trad music where the backup instruments dictate the drive, feel, and lift of the tunes and songs. The addition of instruments such as guitar is a relatively new concept in Celtic traditional music, initially meeting stiff resistance from those who view “pure drop” music as the only proper presentation of the tunes. However, over the past few decades, the accompanists have made their own indelible contributions to Celtic music.
