This week, Katie Marie and Joe present an hour of…bagpipes. Although “bagpipes” conjures up images of regimental marching bands of Great Highland Pipes, there are almost as many different kinds of bagpipes as there are countries in the world. We’ll be focusing (mostly) on dance music played on the pipes in the Celtic world, and although Katie requested no Breton biniou this time around, we do sneak one in at the end.
The artists this week: Paddy Keenan; Cillian Vallely & David Doocey; Tommy Martin; Anna Murray; Susana Seivane; Aaron O’Hagan & Luke Ward; Nuallan; Mick O’Brien, Emer Mayock, and Aoife Ní Bhriain; Carlos Nuñez; Tellef Kvifte; Pennoù Skoulm; Pevar Den; and Xavier Boderiou, Sylvain Barou & Antoine Lahay.
