This week, Katie Marie and Joe put together an hour of songs and tunes featuring women artists. The FairPlé movement was started by a group of women performers in Ireland to promote the equal representation of women artists on stage and on the radio. As Niamh Parsons once told us in an interview, more girls than boys learn traditional instruments, but more men wind up on stage and the airwaves.
The artists this week: Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, Sharon Shannon, Anne Wylie Band, Rachel Walker & Aaron Jones, Ian Melrose & Kerstin Blodig, Shannon, Portage, Olivia Barrett, Fernhill, Sian James, Kan ha Dudi, Méabh Music, The Shee, Niamh Parsons, and Open The Door For Three.
Our FairPlé score this week: 100
