It’s too bad that accordions have such a bad reputation. Although the butt of jokes around the world, there’s something about the lift and drive of tunes on a button box or concertina that convinces your feet to get moving. Most of the accordions Katie Marie and Joe are featuring this week are melodeons, which are diatonic button accordions, and they rely on the player’s push and pull on the bellows to play full scales–and this pulse of the bellows is what creates the incredible danceability and lift.
