Show 145 – Nollaig na mBan
(2021-01-02)

posted in: Past Shows

January 6th is the last day of the liturgical Christmas Season. In Ireland, the last day of Christmas is celebrated by women going out and enjoying themselves while the men clean up the holiday mess and deal with the kids. This women’s day out is called Nollaig na mBan, or “Women’s Christmas.” Katie Marie and Joe celebrate the concept of this role reversal by playing an hour of women musicians of traditional Celtic music. We also feature an interview with fiddler, Rebecca Lomnicky of the California-based band, The Fire, on their 2021 release, ‘Marigold.’

This week, we feature Anna Murray, the bridies, Lynnsey Weissenberger & Treasa Harkin, Trio Tarare, Lily Gems & Eileen O’Driscoll, The Fire, Sileas, The Black Family, Barry & Laura Kerr, Catherine Mcevoy, Three Mile Stone, and Harem Scarem
