Samhain, on November 1st, marks the end of harvest-time and the beginning of winter in the Celtic calendar. It is also the time when the veil between this world and the spirit world grows thin enough to allow passage back and forth between. The traditions of Samhain became the traditions of Hallowe’en, with Scottish and Irish tales of spirits, witches, and devils manifesting into this world. Katie Marie and Joe put together a set of songs and tunes sure to elicit a shiver, so light those bonfires and set a place at the table for loved ones gone on.
The artists this week: Malinky; Janice Burns & Jon Doran; Shannon; Seamus Ennis; Victoria Police Pipe Band; Martin Carthy; Jerry Holland; Louise Mulcahy; Shantalla; Len Graham; Josh Dukes & Dylan Foley; Milladoiro; and Sweeney’s Men.
